MIAMI IMPORT BASKETFlorida has no in-state refineries. Imports land on a long supply chain priced in diesel and ocean-freight fuel, so an oil move reaches Miami twice — in the goods and in the freight that carries them.
How oil reaches this basket: reefer diesel on the drayage leg, bunker-fuel surcharges on the ocean freight, natural-gas-based fertilizer upstream. The barrel rarely moves the crop, but it moves the cost of landing it — which is why the stress test here runs through freight, not the commodity.
Roughly half an importer's landed cost is freight.

Today's example, in plain numbers a typical fleet · 8,000 gal diesel + 1,500 gal gasoline monthly · as of Sep 2
This month's fuel moves are running that fleet +$5,963/month
(costing more) versus a month ago, at wholesale prints of
$4.46/gal ULSD diesel and $3.13/gal RBOB gasoline.
A repeat of the spring Hormuz blockade spike — each fuel at its own measured move from that window — would add
+$28,768/month on top. Set your own volumes above and every number recomputes for your business, in your browser.
Moves are ~21 trading sessions, futures or hub basis; contract month shown in each panel. The coupling bar under each tile is the 30-day correlation of daily returns with Brent — correlation, not causation. Proxy prices are labeled. Volume math shows what the market move does to your stated volume; not an invoice forecast, not advice.
